  • The internet is a powerful resource! Use the links to the following online resources to stay connected and engaged with music. Use this time to find the music you like to listen to/want to play. This is an opportunity to spend time on YOUR playing. You decide how good you can get during this time!

    All Music Students

    Sound Like This!: () Often times young musicians have never listened to a professional musician play their instrument, meaning they do not know what their instrument SHOULD or COULD sound like. Use this website to find links to recordings of the best of the best playing your instument! Recordings are included for EVERY instrument, strings and winds!

    International Music Score Library Project (IMSLP): () An excellent resource for you to access music that is in the public domain for ALL instruments. Everyone can find music to play. 

    Music Theory.net:  This site is great for review and drill on big music theory concepts. This is a free resource to walk you through step-by-step for all music students for additional enrichment.

    Teoria: () For those that want to improve their ability to hear pitches and the difference in sound, this site is great for you! It offers ear training exercises to improve your aural skills (how you hear and identify pitches in music), as well as music theory tutorials.

    Sight Reading Factory: () Band and Orchestra students are able to use this site to practice their sight reading skills. The program offers sight reading examples at all difficulty levels in different keys for every instrument. Try the free trial!

    The Rhythm Randomizer: () All music students can use this resource to practice their rhythm reading skills. Examples are provided at various skill levels using different meters and rhythmic values. Practice the rhythms on a neutral pitch on your instrument.

    Metropolitan Opera: () The Metropolitan Opera is offering FREE opera streams  during the closures. Take advantage!

    Berlin Philharmonic: () The Berlin Philharmonic is offering FREE online concerts through the Digital Concert Hall. Take advantage!

    StringSkills.com: () Use this website to continue your individual study while we are away! There is an abundance of materials available for download for all aspects of technique development, including scales (1- and 2-octave), finger patterns, shifting, rhythms, bowings, and playing in multiple keys. Find what works best for you!

    The Art of String Teaching: () This youtube channel is a great resource for instructional videos relating to string technique and performance. Watch at least one video a day to supplement our in-class learning.

     

    Guitar Specific

    Ultimate Guitar Tabs: () For guitar students, now is the time to explore your musical interests and learn new songs! Ultimate Guitar Tabs provides access to thousands of songs using both chords and tabs for free. The Pro version is optional. If a song has a chord you have not learned, find it in your book or email me.
